Chef-owner Avery Lewis — known as 'Officer Lew' from his career at Monroe Correctional Complex — opened Lew's BBQ in 2011 bringing Louisiana-rooted barbecue and soul food to Everett, with a menu spanning brisket, pulled pork, ribs, hot links, mac and cheese, black-eyed peas, collard greens, and a unique South of the Border section featuring BBQ tacos, taquitos, and quesadillas. Lewis also hosts annual Feed the Need events for unhoused community members.
