A New Orleans institution since 1991, Bennachin is the city's oldest West African restaurant — run by a Cameroonian family who came to New Orleans and built a restaurant that is now a multigenerational community touchstone. The menu centers on Cameroonian and West African staples including jama-jama (sautéed spinach), eru (slow-cooked leafy green stew), egusi soup, jollof rice, and fufu alongside a warm, colorful dining room with artwork celebrating African heritage.
